It all starts with an idea

Your mosaic begins with a story — yours. Maybe it’s an atmosphere, a memory, a bold vision, or just a spark of inspiration. We sketch, explore options, and define the mood, colors, and rhythm of the design. Abstract or figurative? It’s entirely up to you.

Designing the layout

Once the concept is clear, we prepare a full-scale, detailed plan. Every line matters — these will become grout lines, giving the mosaic its structure and soul, a bit like stained glass.

Working with clay

We roll fresh clay into smooth slabs and join them into sections that match your design. Then, using your full-size layout, we trace the drawing onto the surface and begin cutting each shape by hand — precisely, and before the clay dries.

Shaping and smoothing

Each tile is separated, refined, and smoothed by hand. Uneven edges are trimmed, surfaces are sanded. Every piece is touched multiple times to make sure it fits perfectly, both visually and physically.

Keeping it all in order

Each element gets numbered, matched to a “map” of your design. It may seem simple, but this step is essential — it keeps the mosaic from turning into an unsolvable puzzle during assembly.

First firing

We bisque-fire the pieces to harden them and prepare for glazing. Depending on the glaze type, we choose the right temperature. This is where experience and technical know-how really count.

Glazing

We apply the glaze — by dipping, brushing, or both. Each method gives a different finish. Then we carefully clean the backs and edges of the tiles, so nothing sticks to the kiln shelves. It’s delicate work, but worth it.

Second firing

The glazed pieces go into the kiln again. After cooling, we lay out the entire mosaic and review the result. Color reactions can be surprising — sometimes a little fine-tuning is needed. We adjust until it feels just right.

Assembly on mesh

Once the mosaic is ready, we turn it over and mount it onto mesh backing. This makes installation easier and faster, especially for large surfaces. Whether it’s a wall, a pool, or a piece of furniture — it’s ready to go.

Grouting & finishing touches

We use high-quality epoxy grout for a clean, durable finish that’s easy to maintain. It also highlights the design — those lines you saw in step two? Now they come to life.

Packing & shipping

We carefully divide the mosaic into sections, secure each part, and pack it all in a custom-made crate with foam, spacers, and protective layers. Even if it travels halfway across the world, it arrives safe and sound.

Yes, it’s a long process. But that’s exactly why it’s so special.

When we create your mosaic, it becomes our mosaic too — crafted with intention, patience, and pride. Each one is truly one of a kind.

From tile to tale – from wall to wow.
